wish_horseEven if it's something that seems unrealistic right now, when you have a dream, it's worth putting it out there and seeing what comes back...

So, here is a list of objects that Tushita would find very useful, and intend to make good use of in the service of the Dharma. If you happen have one or more of these items lying around un-used and in good condition at home or in your backpack, and which you would be happy to donate/transport here, we would be delighted to hear from you!

Big, expensive, crazy-dream things:

A Camera: We are doing more graphic design work and are realising the limitations of our current low-resolution camera. We're looking for a very good digital camera, capable of taking high resolution, professional print-quality images. A tripod would be a fantastic extra.

A Digital Video Camera: Lama Zopa Rinpoche is spending more time here, and we have a high level of requests for video footage of any event he is involved in. Since we aren't audio-visual technicians, we'd especially appreciate something simple to use, and modern enough to be able to transfer and upload the files easily and quickly.

Computers: A desktop, and more especially a laptop computer would be very welcome, for our expanding volunteer staff and increasingly computer-based admin work.

MP3 player with voice recording facility: For audio recording during teachings. User-friendliness and ease of use are vital, since it will be used by different people, possibly with a low level of technical know-how. The higher the standard of audio quality the better, we're recording the teaching of Dharma! Models that we've been told would fit our needs well are: Olympus DM-550 and Olympus LS-10.

Smaller, possibly possible day-dreamy things

Computer hardware bits and bobs: Particularly external hard drives, we're trying to backup as much of our information (audio teachings/photos etc) as possible and are running out of space!

  • A couple of USB flash drive/memory sticks (4, 8, 16GB etc)
  • Two or more 250GB and above external hard drives.

Lock1Combination Locks: Lock2We have an ongoing problem with these. We use them for almost every room door (we have many dormitories!), but the ones available in India are of low quality and break easily, so we often have a shortage. In the past we have imported some from the West, but this is very expensive and unfortunately many have been stolen (or put in a student's bag and forgotten about...). If you would like to give Tushita a gift, we would be VERY happy to receive any strong/chunky combination locks. The styles illustrated here are ideal.

Dharma Books

Our excellent library is always happy to grow! We'd be very happy to receive more books on Buddhism. We have put together a list of books that we'd like to have, with those that are hard to get in India at the top of the list. You can see this Library Wishlist here.

We'd also very much like to expand our collection of books in languages other than English. If you're coming from a place where English is not natively spoken, perhaps you'd consider bringing us a book on Buddhism in your language? Anything on our recommended reading list would be ideal.

Always needed

  • Donations large or small to help us keep running, and to help our special projects.
  • Enthusiastic, capable Volunteers.
  • Students with keen interest and open minds!

Delivery information...

We do have a mailing address which you can see here, but the postal service here is unreliable and delivery is not guaranteed! In most cases it's OK and you're welcome to try (only recommended if the item is not so expensive), but the very best way to get anything here is by hand-delivery.

If you or someone you know is planning to come here then that's easy - if not, get in touch with us on <info AT tushita.info> and we can try to find someone who is coming from overseas, and co-ordinate with them.

Many, many thanks for taking the time to read through this page!
