An educational complex established to teach and preserve traditional Tibetan art such as Thangka painting woodcarving and embroidery. It is possible to visit, see the artisans at work and to buy some of their exquisite crafts in the centre's shop. There is also a gompa and a nice shady garden with small streams and a good restaurant. Norbulingka is located 5 minutes before HH The Karmapa's residence at Gyuto Monastery (when driving from McLeod Ganj).

www.dalailama.com His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama (HHDL) 
HHDL usually gives public teachings at the main temple in McLeod Ganj 3 or 4 times a year. For specific up to date information please check His Holiness'online schedule. As a last resort, you can contact the Security Office on Bhagsu Road (221560 – near Hotel Tibet) or HHDL’s private office at his temple (221343). Even if HHDL is abroad, it is always worth visiting his temple.

HH the Karmapa is the head of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. He lives at Gyuto monastery in Sidhbar and usually gives public audiences and sometimes short teachings on Wednesday & Saturday at 2pm. Please check with the monastery before you set off from McLeod Ganj (Tel: 235154) & bring your passport to register at the monastery before the audience starts). To get to Gyuto monastery (app.15 km from McLeod Ganj) take a taxi (300Rs, app. 45min.) or alternatively a bus/jeep to Dharamsala (9Rs) and one of the frequent buses to Sidhbar (7Rs).

The Library holds classes on specific topics of Buddhist philosophy & practice, taught in Tibetan by highly qualified Lamas & translated into English. There are 2 classes a day from March/April to December from Monday to Friday & every second Saturday: 9 – 10am with Geshe Monlam Sangpo & 11 – 12 noon with Ven. Geshe Sonam Rinchen (who has an excellent translator!) To get from McLeod Ganj to LTWA, follow Jogibara Road down the hill towards Dharamsala (app. 20min. by foot & much faster by rickshaw or taxi for 70Rs). Tel: (01892) 222467.
www.sikhara.dhamma.org Dhamma Sikhara Vipassana Meditation Center
Part of the organisation which offers 10-day courses in Vipassana meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka. It is possible to take part in these courses in many locations around the world, and in McLeod Ganj from April to November, starting on the 1st & 15th of the month. For more information please check at the Vipassana center office (open Mon-Sat between 4-5pm, 221309) or their websites: listed to the left & www.dhamma.org (the international site). The McLeod Ganj Vipassana centre is Tushita's next-door neighbour! To get there walk down the driveway out of Tushita towards Dharamkot - you will see their big gate next to the chai-shop.
www.chamtrul-rinpoche.com Zilnon Kagyeling (Nyingma) Monastery
Chamtrul Lobsang Gyatso Rinpoche teaches on a different topic of Buddhist philosophy and practice every week (to find out this week’s topic look out for their posters in McLeod Ganj or call 220581). Classes are Monday to Friday from 3 to 5pm at the Zilnon Kagyeling (Nyingma) Monastery (not during winter or monsoon months). To get to the monastery from McLeod Ganj, follow Bhagsu road halfway to the village (app. 10min). Look for the “Last Chance Cafe“ (a little chai-stand on the right side of the road), you will see the monastery up the hill to your left.

Founded by His Holiness the Dalai Lama with an aim to teach courses in Tibetan leading to a Geshe degree. Since 2004 the Institute has been offering Philosophy classes in English and it sometimes offers drop-in classes in English with the amazing teacher Kelsang Wangmo (a German Nun). Affiliated with the College for Higher Tibetan Studies (Sarah College)

A Rime (non-sectarian) nunnery and institution. They offer nuns and Buddhist lay women the opportunity to live and practice as part of a spiritual community. It runs courses in Tibetan language and Buddhist philosophy, as well as having a few places to for women to do personal retreat. It located in Sidhpur, near The Karmapa's Temple (about 45 minutes by taxi from Dharmsala)
www.deerpark.in Deer Park Institute
A Rime (non-sectarian) centre which runs courses and events in the study of classical Indian wisdom traditions. Established in March 2006 on the campus of a former Buddhist institute, it is a project established by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche. It is located in the village of Bir, about 3 hours drive from McLeod Ganj.

The seat of the present 12th Kenting Tai Situpa. Students from His branch monasteries travel to Palpung Monastery to study ritual, art, retreat practices and scholarly texts. Sherab Ling often holds closed events for very long-term practitioners and monastics, so do contact the Monastery before visitng to find out what will be accessible.
