FAQ - INTERMEDIATE COURSES
I have already
attended an Introduction to Buddhism course. What can I
do now?
Tushita offers occasional intermediate-level programs (such as courses
on Emptiness and Death & Dying) and four different tantric
retreats (for those practitioners who have already taken refuge).
You might also consider attending another introductory course in order
to review and contemplate more deeply the essential points of the path.
When teachings and guided meditations are heard from different
teachers, their varied perspectives and styles - combined with your own
personal experiences acquired since your last course - can stimulate
fresh insights for even the most experienced students.
Do you offer any longer courses at Tushita similar to your 10-day
courses?
Not currently. For a longer and more in-depth Lam Rim
(‘Graduated Path to Enlightenment’) course we can
highly recommend the 1-month course at Kopan monastery in Kathmandu,
Nepal in November/December (www.kopanmonastery.com).
I would like to stay for a longer period in McLeod Ganj and study
Buddhism and meditation. Do you have any suggestions?
After attending one of Tushita’s 10-day introductory and/or
intermediate-level courses, many students decide to stay in the area
(there are a lot of guest houses you can choose from here) and attend:
-
His Holiness the Dalai Lama's
public teachings in March and July/August (www.dalailama.com,
www.tibet.com)
-
The philosophy classes at the
Tibetan Library of Works and Archives (www.ltwa.net or www.tibet.com)
-
The philosophy classes at the
Institute of Buddhist Dialectics (IBD)
-
For independent studies,
Tushita’s excellent library has books and audio materials for
loan.
